Local Business Owner Marci Hurst Honored with the 2011 Franchisee of the Year Award and the 2011 Business Marketing Award
RALEIGH, N.C. – Local business owner Marci Hurst, owner of Money Mailer of Greater Raleigh and Greater Cary, a local company that specializes in direct marketing, was recently honored with the 2011 Money Mailer Franchisee of the Year Award, as well as the 2011 Business Marketing Award during the company's annual franchise convention in Huntington Beach, CA.
"We are thrilled to honor Marci for her success and tremendous hard work with her Money Mailer franchise," said Gary Mulloy, Chairman and CEO of Money Mailer. "As Marci approaches her eighteenth year in business, she has demonstrated the ability to think creatively and serve as a role model for other franchisees in the system. We are excited to see what Marci does with her Money Mailer franchise in 2012."
In May 2011 when Wake County's Scotty McCreery was announced as the 2011 American Idol winner, Marci saw this as a unique opportunity to reach local consumers. With a concert scheduled in Raleigh, Marci's Money Mailer franchise sent out a mailing to 200,000 homes in Raleigh with a message on the back of the envelope giving consumers a chance to win floor seats to the concert. Along with an entry form, they were asked to include the name of a local business they wanted to see in future mailings. As a result, she received 2,000 entries and hundreds of local businesses that consumers wanted to see in Money Mailer's coupon envelopes.
"As a longtime business owner in the community, I wanted to implement something that would congratulate Scotty for winning, but also something that would create increased visibility for Money Mailer in the local market," said Hurst. "The amount of participation was just phenomenal and we were really able to get a good grasp on the types of local businesses the community wanted to see in our envelope."
The Franchisee of the Year Award recognizes Hurst for embodying the Money Mailer spirit and for making significant contributions for betterment of the Money Mailer system. The award also distinguishes Hurst for her dedication to the community. Recipients of the award receive a $5,000 monetary contribution that will be donated to the charities of their choice. She plans to give the money to Lighthouse Ministries out of Cary, which provides counseling and life coaching services to individuals and families.
"Lighthouse Ministries specializes in helping people get back on their feet, which is something I can connect with. Six years ago, I went through my own personal struggle, but learned to not give up and push through. I strongly believe in the organization's mission and am happy to contribute to their cause," Hurst added.
Money Mailer's franchisees serve as marketing consultants to local businesses, developing customized direct marketing programs to help increase each client's customer base. Through innovative and effective products, local knowledge and targeted mailing areas, Money Mailer is dedicated to its mission of "helping businesses get and keep more customers."
